Sigh...

Sorry about that, all. I’m about to crack a can of delicious spinach, with a side of rocks and twigs for breakfast. After that, a slow stroll around the block with old Macey, then a forced long march with Mort! We are moving to address my lard-ass issue.

Again.

Last time I went almost full vegan ... and got down to 220. Barely. I used to get my cardio by running but I don’t think my old back will take it. I’ll find something... maybe I’ll catch up with Dave...?

I suppose it’s do-able...

The rest a ya’s... hope your Sunday is off to a great start! And... that you had a great B’fast!!!! šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

  1. In chemistry class we learned that the energy in a candy bar would take 20 miles of running to burn off. It's all about input, can't run far enough to burn off what you eat.

Figure out your metabolism, and it'll give you the clues you need to feed your bod just what it needs. Mine is more cave man. Meat mostly, some veggies, and nothing after 1300... And too much bread is right out. The way my body works, I don't even get hungry at night. And that's the weirdest thing in the world to me. I used to eat all day and night and never gain weight. Way different now.

If things go south, I guess I'll start hunting grass fed vegans.... ;)

    1. I had a dietician put me on a diabetic diet ages ago. It's good, but there is precious little meat or carbs. It's do-able... but I am addicted to the meat and bread too. I fear I am going to have to break that addiction to get anything done...

  2. Find what satisfies you; makes you feel full. For me that is 2-egg omelet/Spanish tortilla/frittata filled with as many veggies (onion, peppers, mushrooms, spinach) as I can about noon to 2:00. Then supper about at 6 or 7 of a some kind of soup/stew. For some reason a soup/stew is more filling than the individual components on a plate. Another thing that helps with the hunger is a cup of chicken bouillon/broth.

Unlike STxAR, I do better if put off eating as long as I can. Plus, I don't sleep well if I'm hungry.

Unless the ADA has adopted the Paleo/Ketogenic/low carb diet for diabetics they are perpetuating the problem for most of us. It is also recommend to throw in more resistance training with your cardio for diabetics. I find resistance training a lot easier on my old joints than most cardio. Hang in there, doing something is better than just giving up.

    1. I personally don't believe in the paleo/keto, Judy. Guys my age are generally expected to grow up, eat right and no bones about it. My flab problems are due to the usual Darwinian suspects: eating garbage and not excersising.

I am not diabetic but the doctors tell me I am only a short stone's throw away... and who needs that shite when there's all kinds of other fun and exciting health problems a guy my age can have?

If I recall the diabetic diet will give you an egg once every couple of days or better, once a week...

All I can do is grow up and embrace the suckage as creatively and dishonestly as I can... :(

  3. Filthie, try this as weight loss, super easy and you can eat normal food. I eat breakfast and dinner, have cut out lunches and don't miss them.
Adjust your eating so that your final meal of the day is 1-2 pm, and stick to that. I've lost 50lbs in the last 2 years doing this and it works. I have one or two glasses wine every night. As time goes on with this diet is your stomach shrinks so you end up eating half of what you ate at one sitting and you don't miss all of the food. It really works. Best thing about this is your eating food you like. You'll realize that you had been brain washed to over-eat 3 meals when 2 will do just fine.
Good luck, keep your ammo dry and be careful.
PS: thanks for yr work on this site.

  4. Oh yea that spinach, spit it right out.... not good for you either. See plants absorb calcium from the ground for which they have no use. So they make something called oxalates to bind to the calcium and move them on to the leaves since those are disposable and thus they rid themselves of said calcium. Only we humans thought it was a good idea to eat leaves in the name of health and all that good shit. Well guess what happens in the human body with those oxalates? They look to bind to other stuff especially if you are one of us that don't do dairy cause it gives you the shits every time. And when protein is what you like, all that makes for a low pH high uric acid metabolism and those oxalates like to bind to the urea and it all builds up inside of you and makes quarter sized rocks in about six months time. Nuts, potatoes, carrots, beans, wheat, corn, berries all super high in oxalates and are henceforth verboten. Most green veggies are poison to me. But spinach is the worst with 1700 mg per cup-full of the uncooked stuff. My total daily intake of oxalates should not be above 100mg /day.
Good thing I like white rice.

    1. Oh gawd... I could eat white rice with a splash of soy sauce all day long...

    2. Nope... no soy sauce either.. its made from soy beans, loaded with oxalates too....
my choices are becoming more and more limited.

  5. Hah! Doing the same thing! 58, high BP, abnormal PSA and "digital" exam. Just great. I am fairly healthy walking at least 5 miles a day and hiking more on the weekend. Dropped from 217 to 203 today in five weeks. On my way to 190. Beet juice sucks! Going in for the prostate biopsy shortly. Surgery ain't far behind.my behind.
