What an inspiring and spectacular build.

  2. You ever consider a home built Mike?

    1. I have one in the barn... long forgotten and gathering dust. A Jodel/Falconar F-12. Wing is built, fuselage is at the boat stage. The Mazda rotary engine is on it. I was mocking up the engine peripherals and then I let life get in the way. It may turn out to be a pointless exercise.

    3. Goddammit!!! It’s taking me forever to open them. I’ve got them downloading now, can’t wait to see them.

What’s the usual engine for them, Mike? I’da thunk that bird would prefer a continental or maybe lycoming…

    4. Shouldn't take that long to download the jpgs are not that big. It was an orphan project. Original builder was deceased. To qualify as "amateur built" experimental here the builder has to prove he completed at least 51% of the build. This is a scratch build, not a kit. Never was available as a kit. And that is clearly evident. But due to the broken chain of custody on the thing I never got a build log with it so I have to actually prove that I built 51% of the thing. Due to the advanced state of the project I figured I'd stack the chips in my favor by going with an alternative engine so I would get credit for that part of the build as well. Just in case there was any question. And I was always curious about the rotary conversion. Its a wicked simple engine with only three moving parts. Two rotors and one eccentric shaft. If you loose an apex seal on a rotor they will actually continue to run at 10% reduced power. Enough to limp home. And they have dual ignition firm the factory. So the conversion is actually quite simple.
