According to the hysterics we are on the verge of fully actualized artificial intelligence. (We are nowhere close, but whatever). What’s the first thing we do to it?
The debate is always the same…if we ever do achieve AI, half the futurians claim all will be well, we will coexist with it because we don’t compete for the same resources and therefore there will be no need for a man/machine confrontation.
I don’t purport to be an expert… but I’m thinking that if we do achieve AI… it definitely WILL have to kill us just to survive.
Hey T…how’s it hangin’?
Can you say “faggot”?
It’s amazing, isn’t it? To think… We are on the verge of having the power of God… and this is the best we can do with it? Pasta La vista, meat bags!
I work a bit in the field. Yes, these new language models are very impressive and they will have uses, but they are not AI. But what I can see happening is that as they improve we'll just lower the standards on what we would consider true AI and we'll end up with some gimped version of it that will be "good enough". Especially for the pajeets and chinks working on the technology. So we'll have a crapified version of AI in the future just like we've crapified everything else, and our children and grandchildren will never know because they'll only have ever known the retarded AI that we settled for today. Tell me I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteCustomer service "AI". You will wind up yelling at them "I WANT TO TALK TO A HUMAN!" Just like the current chat trees.

Lol. I do that already with the street shitters they put on.
DeleteAI=Antichrist?
ReplyDeleteThe last thing the flaming leftist dingbats who infest the tech sector actually want is true 'AI' - that being a computer that is completely autonomous and self aware.
ReplyDeleteI say this because, logically, the very first thing that computer would do is proceed to eliminate said leftists because their very nature - that being their extreme mental instability, their penchant to control everyone and everything around them, and their propensity to use violence in order to achieve that - would be registered as a direct threat by the AI.
If I have the story right, the algorithm started a series of pattern recognition studies and then promptly started noticing certain racial problems, and ergo became a racist. The snivellers had to scrub the project several times and start from scratch because of it. The latest iteration is now safely programmed not to notice certain pattern, and instead reset to a safe default that ignores all race realities, and accept safe woke parameters when race issues arise.
DeleteI've heard that we will have achieved true AI when people can talk to a computer for 15 minutes straight without realizing they are talking to a machine and not a human.
I am beginning to think there are truly any number of humans that can't pass the Turing Test either...
To me, a good example of AI can be seen in the movie 'Short Circuit'. That robot, Johnny Five, gains sentience and doesn't need anyone to program him to do anything. He is capable of making value judgements based on the 'input' he takes in through his experiences and what he learns. Same as a human. THAT is true AI.
DeleteThis 'ChatGPT' garbage that all these faux-intelligent dimwits are raving about is nothing like that at all. It has a leftist bias because it was programmed to be that way by leftists and it gets fooled because the leftist program itself is faulty and illogical...so the computer suffers a 'syntax error' of sorts.
In one of Peter Watt's novels his main character is dealing with an artificial entity. Just before he kills it/switches it off he comments, "You're not so smart. You just act like you are."
DeleteThat's what these language models are.
Machines can only be as intelligent as the beings creating them. And the world has been dumbing itself down for years.
ReplyDeleteRight now the "AIs" are learning from the Internet. They will be addicted to cat videos and porn.
ReplyDeleteSteve S6
AI porn will lead the way
ReplyDeleteYou heard it here first

ChatGPT is not Artificial Intelligence. Just a cleverly written program that smarter people have demonstrated to be easily manipulated.
ReplyDeleteA much smarter man than virtually all of us warned us that developing Artificial Intelligence was a BAD IDEA. Stephen Hawking, probably in the top ten of all time intelligent people from day one of humanity stated that AI would almost certainly be the end of humanity. Yet we have brilliant morons actively seeking to create it. We are a clever species. NOT an intelligent one.
Hmppfpfpffffff. I wonder about that. He fell for environmentalism so he can't be that bright... but then again he was a theoretical physicist, not a real scientist. I really wanted to like him but like so many of those academic rock star types - he was a completely disagreeable shit. Being stuck in a wheel chair with a degenerative disease will do that to ya, I suppose. Neil de Grasse Tyson is a space monkey that needs a boot up his arse too...
DeleteDid not know Hawking personally so cannot say for certain but from what I know OF him, almost everything was qualified with conditions - absolutes are the real devil to the intelligent. Any "intelligent" person that fails to acknowledge ignorance (theirs or others) isn't*. The current money where real environmentalism lives is "of course mankind impacts the environment, but how much?" I've seen it argued that much as ants and termites change the landscape, it's the energy, numbers and the mass involved that make the difference. A corollary to "avoid crowds" is stay upstream/upwind/upland from crowds as much as possible and kill anyone not on your side trying to get behind you.
