Friend of mine had one of those old machines. Turns out, the ones tooled for the smaller coke bottles would dispense beer just fine. He also had a cabinet type, where the bottles hung by the necks in a pool of ice cold water.
I remember one of those bottle machines that dispensed RC Cola (but no Moon Pies) at Mickey's Motors AMC dealer in Ellington, CT during the late `70's early `80's between the parts counter and service counter. I remember taking my Dad's 1974 Hornet and my 1973 AMC Jeep Commando there for service and to get parts.
Gotta be a certain age and music aficionado to get the Moon Pie reference.
My uncle and aunt had one in the Spurlock Store in Squires, MO for most of my young years. They updated it to a newer model that still dispensed bottles in 1992 and replaced it with a plastic bottle cooler in 2000.
I would love to be back in time and stick a dime in one of those machines and them put another one in the box for the Lance crackers or peanuts. Honor system, they would go broke now. Allan
