If I remember correctly, he did all his own motorcycle work in the movie "The Great Escape," EXCEPT the scene jumping the fence when he is captured. It was too dangerous and the studio would not allow it. But the fact that he was willing to do it says a lot.

Steve lived an abbreviated but great life where he did what he wanted to do and do who he wanted. He was a pretty good actor as well.

ReplyDeleteThat scene was fillmed within sight of Schloss Neuschwanstein, the castle from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the castle Walt Disney based his castle on.
