  2. It's a Boeing 314 Clipper, WL. Prior to the 1940's the only way across the pacific was by boat. Most people aren't aware of how incredibly big that ocean really is or the distances involved. For the times, getting across it by air was a feat on par with putting a man on the moon.

    1. I started reading up on it. Truly a magnificent machine and a civilized way to travel. The amount of fuel they had to carry was significant, and there would have to be fuel at their destination. From what little I've read, the accommodations were very luxurious.
