I’ve never been much of a patriot. As a younger man I was a bitter western separatist. In good economic times the Liberals use my province as an ATM to pay for pork and buy votes in Morontario and Queerbec. It’s part of Turdo The Elder’s Equalization/Tax redistribution scam, and it has been a fact of life all my adult life. I wrote the country off when we started importing third world human trash by the millions. Sure, some of them assimilate, but far, far too many don’t. We will find ourselves a nation like Brazil if this continues. It’s already happening.
I am a mere economic unit to be used and discarded by this nation as it moves to either change or destroy itself. My parents would be furious to hear me say that. They were born into a country with a birthright and opportunity. Their parents saved and built that for them and mentored them. Their generation pissed all that away too. Today grown men live in their parents’ basements and play video games. Their jobs are off shored, or given to more vibrant and cheaper workers imported from the third world. As things sit now, if I ever want to work again I’ll probably have to move. If I want to stay, we will have to prep like mad and hide our assets. The looters and parasites are going to be a big problem sooner rather than later.
I. wouldn’t mind the adversity so much if I saw something good coming of it. My grandparents fought wars and survived depressions and recessions and took their lumps knowing their kids would live in a better world. Today the sense I get is that the idea is to screw the country for everything you can get because that is what the other guy is doing, and if he’s really good at it and properly positioned... he’ll take your share too. Maybe when my money and food run out I’ll leave. Or maybe drop off the grid.
Until this country decides that it has a purpose and a reason to continue, I will have no stake in it beyond my ties to the small group of people left in my community that are actually still real Canadians.
Glen, I am confronting the same sort of issue with our own upcoming Fourth of July. I have never felt as dismal about the future or less excited to be an American. My generation -if we are lucky -will be the last one to enjoy something that resembles the lifestyle I read about and remember. The only thing that comforts me in such times is 1) God is ultimately in control, even of this; and 2) The harder things are grasped in an iron fist, the more they come apart. They are only beginning to push to where people - large groups of people, people like you and me - actually starting "tuning out and dropping out" as the old saying goes. Watch what happens when that occurs.
ReplyDeleteHmpfffff. The sense I get TB, is that the people responsible for this will not stop. They will have to be stopped. I'd love to say more but am reluctant to do so in the clear like this. Personally I expect my faith to be tested sooner rather than later...
DeleteMove down here. I like your attitude. I need a neighbor I can respect!
ReplyDeleteWhich state are you in Star? My first picks are Montana and Alaska...
DeleteI usually go all out on the 4th of July. I do the red, white, and blue bunting across the front of the house, the flags, the whole nine yards. This year though, I'm not into it. I don't know if I'll deck the place out. I'm half inclined to simply fly Old Glory upside down in protest of... the "protests..."
ReplyDeleteGlen, you're being too kind to yourself. You call yourself an "economic unit." What you are is "a cow to be milked," as am I.
If you haven't done so, read "Atlas Shrugged." We are RIGHT THERE right now...
...I'm about ready to "go Galt" myself...
Yep. Allow me to correct myself... I WAS an economic unit. Today I am a problem: I am the wrong colour, I have too much money and I vote the wrong way and have the wrong opinions...
DeleteThere is a nice house with a couple of acres right down the road from Coopville.....
ReplyDeletePerfect! I will turn to a life of crime and set up a poultry cartel...
Delete:)
How are you guys these days CM?
