Hear that noise? Sounds like a circus clown making balloon animals for the kiddies? HAR!!! Why - that is Yours Truly, and I am being so tight - you can hear me squeak right over the innernet! HAR HAR HAR! HAR HAR HAR!!!
If you were by last week, ya might have heard me bloviating about my third go on recycling wax for the trash candle. Each time the wicks burn away, I gather up the left over wax, melt it down and make another candle! I gotta tell ya - I was mighty proud of my frugality. But then one of the fellas piped up in the comments about how he keeps the scraps of soap, and once he has enough of them he just moistens them and squishes them all together to form another bar or half-bar of soap! Not bad. Not bad at all.
I've decided to make a hobby out of frugalness (with obvious exception of my frivolities like guns, archery, hunting, camping, etc). Today I am going to try re-cycled tea bags. Yannow I may have done this before but never deliberately. There are so many things I take for granted. When ya run out of tea, the old lady simply buys more - like clockwork. I remember well the old geezers when I was a kid complaining about what pussies and wastrels we were - we've never been cold, or hungry and we take everything for granted, blah blah blah. It's true too. I will take the verbal abuse of the extremely old in this manner - but when the younger ones try to do it I tell them to FOAD! Like they have ever been hungry or cold? Okay, Boomer! HAR!!!
But I digress. If the experiment fails - I am only out of a pot of hot water.
Recycled Canadian Red Rose! I am a man of sophisticated class and taste!
Red Rose Tea used to run a TV commercial when I was a wee tyke. Had chimps doing big band music. That thing still creeps me out to this day. Yeah, I do the cheapo soap thing just like that other guy, too....

So, you're taking 'teabagging' to the next level?
ReplyDeleteFor the love of all that’s holy, I beg you resist that urge. Some things are just not done. Wax, soap, sawdust, dryer lint....by all means. But TEA? Next thing ya know, you’ll be drinkin’ decaf and that’s a sure slide to...shudder....veganism.
ReplyDeleteYup, there is a limit of reusing tea. And yup I've been that broke. Pretty soon you are just drinking hot water, instead just limit your tea consumption to one cup a day or every other day. That one cup becomes such a precious cup and tastes so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteRoasted dandelion root makes and interesting hot beverage.
Yup, me too, Judy. Our early family years were pretty grim and I know what poverty is like. We prepped for it best we could... but even so... I am not afraid of it.
DeleteHave any of you ever tried chaga? I would love to try it but I don't think it grows out here....
Got a bag of chaga the other day to try out for the fun of it. Nice brew. It doesn't need anything to smooth it out or cut the bitterness. Rooibos is a nice tea also. I think a touch of lemon with it really finishes the cup. A combination of dandelion, chicory and carob tastes real close to coffee but if you got allergies to dandelion or chicory (same plant family) the headache is profound.
