The BFYTW Gun

Y’know… I have happy dreams and day dreams about having a situation where Amazon’s vibrancy and diversity results in a crate of grenades being accidentally shipped to my house. I’d chuckle hysterically like a demented pervert and scamper down to the dump and throw them at the junked cars and piles of garbage. I could see them being useful in unearthing some great picking opportunities too! I like the sound these grenade launchers make too: Poit!!! 😊👍

Any of you squaddies ever get to play with one of these? I certainly wouldn’t want to fight with such weapons… but there are serious recreational possibilities to these things that our short sighted shitlibs just can’t appreciate for some reason.

  1. I am not very knowledgeable about guns so forgive me if a stupid question. So does this set up fire all 10 .22LR bullets on one trigger pull?

    1. There is probably a cap of sorts that fires them all at once. The original M79 has a single firing pin in the middle. 22LR need to be hit on the rim to fire.

  3. M-79 40mm Grenade Launcher. Uses low velocity 40mm shells, and that IS a 'hornets nest' round as it's commonly called. It's allso called a "Blooper" for the noise it makes when it's lit off. Can be used with HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) or my fave Flechette. It's a 'standalone' that the US DotMil phased out in favor of the M-203 underbarrel mounted same-caliber launcher, which has NOW been superseded by the H&K M-320, which can be standalone OR underbarrel mounted.

In Iraq in 2004 the Navy EOD Guys purely LOVED the M-79 and had a buttload of them refurbed and reissued 'cos the Navy outside of their SpecOps kids don't 'run' Grenade Launchers on the reg. REALLY good at stand-off blowing up I.E.Ds on convoy routes... I would LOVE to own one but the D.D. paperwork and cost is prohibative. Instead I settled on the 37mm Havoc "flare" launcher LOL.
Hope that helps Glenn me Boyo!

  4. Wouldn't mind having one. If the "peaceful protests" came to my neighborhood, the curve they'd have to come around at the bottom of the hill is 325 yards according to my range card, a comfortable range for the Blooper.

  5. Max range for the M781 training round is 325 meters. I suspect the HE rounds are similar. Would love to have some of the "novel explosive" rounds that Picatinny Arsenal developed for Afghanistan. Designed to implode caves and bunkers. Thermobaric. Used to work for one of the main contractors that made the training rounds. Spent a lot of time at the range testing.
