Problem was - it was the perfect gun for the grumpy old gun club duffer too! I tried to buy it off Skinbag but the gun was for his daughter, end of story, no bones about it. I’ve never seen TC guns around my neck of the woods. The company is still around, but they make their guns out of plastic now with vomit inducing camo prints in utterly useless calibres… or at least that’s the way it was when last I looked. There was a custom maker somewhere in the States making them in the classic configurations and calibres, but by then I had my Ruger No.1 and no need for another super accurate single shot.
If I were to build one today… ? Oh baby! I see a .50-70… maybe a .50-90 with a good 28” pipe…? Part of the reason you never see these guns around here is that when they DO show up (almost always used)… people buy them… and keep them.
I think a T/C carbine in .357 Maximum would be fun to carry and shoot. For game found in the thicket and understory. That carbine pictured above is a sexy beast.
ReplyDeleteOr you could buy a 450 Bushmaster barrel with Leupold CDS dial and have 350 yard gun legal in most "straight wall" / shotgun zones. That's my solution in lower Michigan.
ReplyDeleteAbout 10 years ago the T/C wood shop burned down and then S&W bought them and cut the brand way back. MGM and Burberry make barrels in a number of calibers. Not cheap.
