It used to be a common warning when I was a kid. It was primarily aimed at the adults but a wise elementary school teacher 100 years ago said that it applied to us older kids as well. But my elders paid no heed to it, and in my turn, neither did I. As the generations matured and aged, we seemed to pay an increasingly steep price for our neglect too.
If you think Big Bother watching your every move is bad… welp… little brother is ten times worse. The worst thing Big Brother can do is beat you down and shoot you for your mistakes. The little ones… if you blow it… they’ll make the same mistakes you did. And you get to watch in 3D Technicolor as they do it too.
I weep.
ReplyDeleteI shed my tears long ago JC. And maybe I finally made some sort of peace with my sorrow just recently. Kids will have to make peace with their sorrows too, at this point I am just along for the ride.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on that even now. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. Be ready to teach.
