I got something going on wit my right hand and wrist. It feels like my wrist is brk n. Got in one a those tenso/splint things and the pain is through the roof. Lots of swelling. I’ll give it a couple days and we’ll see what happens.
I always had a deep sense of wrongness when I broke a bone (four times.) It is something you just know. Best go now. Earlier in the day and week is better. Before you think you are about to die is a bad time.
Rub some dirt on it and walk it off. Oh wait. You're a stubfart.... Ditto the above advice. Find out what's cooking. Don't want it to lock up. I've got one that does that and it ain't no fun. Found out I have two scaphoid bones in there... or.... I broke it in half in seventh grade and it just makes trouble. Too late to fix.
One day last December I was typing on my computer. Suddenly I felt a stabbing pain in my left wrist. Th pain was severe and lasted about 4 minutes. I didn't think anything of it. A day later I developed a bruise in the underside of the wrist. I didn't think anything of it. A week later the underside of my left arm was deep blue from the wrist to the elbow. To make a long story short the doctors diagnosed that I had "Acquired Hemophilia" (at 79 years of age) and i was in danger of losing the arm. I spent 3 weeks in a university hospital getting injected with various drugs. I'm pretty much back to normal now. This whole thing started 2 weeks after I got a Moderna Booster shot, but any of te 20 or so doctors I asked about it wouldn't discuss it. Watch out for bruising Filthy and get to a doctor pronto if you see any.
Get to the doc, Glen! Hell; get to the ER. One of my ham radio buddies had a similar experience. Ended up being a blood clot. He almost lost his arm because he delayed!
When my wife broke her wrist, she was sent to an Orthopedic clinic with a dozen docs. The one they sent her to is a hand and wrist specialist--that's how complex the subject is now. I don't know how you fare in the great socialist medicine north country, but if it comes to it, get yerself south of the border. Of course, any ER can shoot an X-ray for you, but if it's indeterminate, you may need further diagnosis. We hope it's straightforward and resolves soon. The blog can wait, we'll be here when you get back.
Good advice from everybody Glen, get you mangy carcass in to have it checked out, may sound like a compartment fracture and those are nasty if you don't get them taken care of. Your oldfart NURSE is telling you to get it done!
Waiting may cause more damage, with will lead to a longer recovery time.

ReplyDeleteI went years suffering from gout, then my foot doctor prescribed Allopurinol. I haven’t had a painful episode since. Uric acid level is the culprit.
