Where Great Intelligence Goes To Be Insulted

Apparently there was a time when pigging out in front of the TV wasn’t seen as a bad thing. Do they even make TV dinners anymore? I suppose they don’t have to with all the pre-processed freeze dried stuff that’s out there now. Half a that chit will kill ya too!

Times have sure changed, eh? This was the good life for my parents and grandparents. But all things must end… or at least change.

That’s what TV dinners became in my day. Nowadays I’ve seen ads for companies that will prepare a normal supper for ya from fresh ingredients. A lot of them did well for themselves during the Covid scam when everyone went full couch potato.

I hope you all have more class than me and my beardo friends at ZZ Top. Any day’s a great day to go out to the BBQ … and pig out outside.

😂👍

  1. Best. Band. EVVAR! BTW: Trivia, did you know Billy Gibbons and his pre-ZZ Top Band "Moving Sidewalks" opened for Jimi Hendrix? Or that in the mid seventies, they went and hung out in an Ashram for a hiatus from making music and touring. When they came back, they had grown the signature soupcatchers they kept... They got to be known as "the band with the beards" LOL. My greatest bummer was not having ever gotten to see them in concert alas....

  2. In my degenerate student days in the 1970's, a dollar bill would buy a $0.49 TV dinner AND a quart of beer! Nutrition at its finest!

  3. I can find Swanson hungry man dinners but they aren't like they used to be. I always enjoyed the Patio Mexican TV dinners. Can't find those at all anymore. You also can't find Banquet boil in bags anymore. A bag with meat and gravy that you boiled and served over toast, pasta, or rice. I loved the chicken ala king and the chow mein.

Now for a cheap meal it's Ramen.

  4. TV Dinners ... plastic peas and corn that squeaked when you bit into them. Salty 40 weight gravy covering the entree. Takes me back it does.
