A couple of observations…replace the Sykes-Fairbairn dagger with a useful, sturdy field knife, and get yourself some more ammo-carrying capabilities. I have a feeling 10 rounds ain’t gonna cut it.
Interesting. I have a pathological hatred of double edged knives because I like to put my thumb and fingers on the top edge sometimes depending on the chore I am doing. My preference for a fighter would have the look of a Bowie but have a false top edge rather than the clip point. It might lose a few points for the fighter chores... but would pick up a few for the practical ones, maybe?
I have some surplus 303 that came with the original cloth bandolier, which I think is what is under the left (right as we look at it) sleeve. That's another 60 rounds. What I'm don't see is all the pers kit every other squaddie carries - canteen, KFS, messtins, poncho, respirator, puttees, brasso and blackener, housewife/shave kit, and so on. This looks like just what is special issue for a sniper/marksman.
a fella with skills wouldn't be bad off with that kit.
ReplyDeleteUseful kit!

ReplyDeleteKeep the S-K and bring a field knife too. One is none. Tree Mike
