If I hear that pant load of codswallop on more
time… I’m gonna shoot the tard that says it!
😑😑😑

I think it was du Toit that said it first 20 years ago,  but I could be wrong. It’s bullchit so it’s entirely possible…πŸ˜‚πŸ‘

The purpose of your pistol is to do the job when your rifle can’t. If you are in. Pitched battle and you are separated from your rifle - it’s gone. Your job doesn’t change; you need to keep killing bad guys or find cover.

At close range your pistol may even be the better bet than the rifle. At long range, a pistol (in the hands of a person that can use it) can induce rifle guys to seek cover rather than break it to shoot at you.

Mastering pistolcraft is much harder than mastering a rifle so a lot of gunnies neglect it. You need the gun capable of real precision, and then you need trigger time and coaching.

Take your pistol seriously. You will be surprised at what you can actually do with it.

  1. Col. Cooper said a good pistol shooter could wreck a squad of riflemen. Each has it's place. I'd much rather someone try and fight me beyond 200 yards. If they get too close, the shotgun comes into play. Closer still and the pistol is in it's element. If you have to go to the speed-rock draw, it's knife and knuckle time.

  2. U.S. Border Patrol used to have to qualify out to 50 yards with their revolvers. Some were deadly out to distances you wouldn't believe.

  3. many years ago, I watched a old sarge hit targets out to a 100 meters with a stock 1911 off the rack. if anything, it taught me it is the person behind the weapon that matters the most.
I think he was lobbing them out there, but he did hit the target a few times that way. looking back on it, I think he was using his thumb as a sight or guide to do it.

  4. I trained on a 50 yard range with my Glock. Rifles are wonderful tools but at close range, gimme my pistol and I’ll cover you.

  5. Once upon a time I shot a deer in the left ear hole from about 20 yards with my 4 inch S&W Model 19 .357 mag. Talk about a one shot stop!. To me one of the differences is that a rifle is carried and a pistol is worn. You should always be fully dressed.

  6. Went out shooting for the first time in a long while with my 9 mm at the range. Had some good shot groups on the target out at about 25 meters but none of them matched my aiming point
