You are correct. Training and practice cannot be neglected. I'm sure little David was a durn good shot with a sling way before he met Goliath. Read Judges. God interfered a lot with their campaigns. Mud, bees, confusion... pretty creative.
Down here, they used to teach about a man name of George Washington in our history classes. He was fighting in the French and Indian war. An Indian chief shot at him and could not have missed, yet did. GW's coat was full of holes after the battle. The chief said that God must have bigger plans for him. We used to call him the father of our country.
From the War Chief: Listen! The Great Spirit protects that man [pointing at Washington], and guides his destinies--he will become the chief of nations, and a people yet unborn will hail him as the founder of a mighty empire. I am come to pay homage to the man who is the particular favorite of Heaven, and who can never die in battle."
That coat is hanging in the Smithsonian I've heard. Four bullet holes in it. Had 2 horses shot out from under him. Almost half the English contingent died.
God's influence is everywhere. I truly believe that. And I also believe He rewards those that diligently seek Him.
God will do as He will with whom He will, STxAR. Every knee will bend. If you study the Battle Of Midway ... the sheer luck and timing of that battle should convince every last squaddie and swabbie that there is a God, and at one time He favoured America above all others. Coincidence alone does not explain what happened out on that ocean all those years ago.
