The Sting Of The Scorpion

I’d love something like this.
I dunno what I’d do with it…but…

It’s all fun and games until it’s time to pick up the brass and reload it. Yeah… I used to have a progressive Dillon that could slam out rounds almost as fast as something like this could eat them.  The problem I have with progressive presses is that - sure, they’ll crank out tons of econo-bullets that are just fine for a squirt gun like the Skorpion… but I tend to shoot carefully tweaked handloads and I tinker a lot. The single stage press suits me fine… but they’re slooooooooow…

I got rid of my Dillon but sometimes I wonder if that wasn’t a mistake…

  1. I have always had a frugal nature as well as loving a challenge and my passion has always been to place one large hole in the bullseye in one shot the first time every time . I get out the old Rusky VEPR once a day and peer through the scope and then try my damnest to punch that little black dot out first time . Been doing it that way for years . Then I do it at a hunert yards with the Deagle . One 54R and one .357 a day keeps the doctor away ! Interestingly I have had many reloaders try to reload brass for my Deagle and not one has ever made a box for me that will cycle the gun . Have to buy those darn expensive Samson bullets but wow are they hot . And yep , I love my foreign guns ! Still waiting on someone to make a good 54R pistol .

    1. Poli could probably figure out what's going on with the Beagle. Actually... I probably could now too, after chatting with him. Some guns need their ammo to go through either a taper crimp or a small base die set. I used to do it as a matter of course for my gas guns and semi auto pistols...

Might be worth jumping on that, RO? The Beagle can be a ferocious beast and some pattycake target loads might be fun...

    2. Thanks Mr Filthie . I'll let my loading guy know . It is getting near impossible to find any Samson lately and I'm down to 10 boxes or so . A buddy in Texas was telling me the spent primers were a real bear to get out but he says the brass is some of the best he's seen . Being tighter than frog pussy I always pick up my brass , heh . Wouldn't surprise me if Joebama ain't stopping imports of anything now a days .

  2. Glen, my dad and I shot Prarie dogs in Montana for ten years starting in 1992. Great times and shooting, all on the reservation. There were literally fields with tens of thousands of individuals. By 10:30 or 11 the rifles were hot enough that it was stop for lunch or pee on the barrel. We ate lunch. Each shooting a thousand rounds a day through 5 guns between us. Hits out to 300 yards were common with .223 and 22-250. ALL reloaded on an original B press.
The shooting was great, the time with dad, priceless. You younger fellows take note

    1. I always shot gophers with a 22 at ranges well under one parsec round here. I watch you guys in the lower 48 wreaking havoc on Dawg Town and I get extremely jealous! A good crank to watch on JewTube is Cave Dweller 59. He films everything on his dawg hunts and the bunny huggers flip out in rage... it's hilarious and entertaining on several levels... ;)

  3. I got to shoot a scorpion at knob creek, nothing but fun. I went there to shoot a BAR, Thompson, and a FAL hey it is only money, I will take a mag for the scorpion too.

  4. I've shot the Thompson with a 30 round magazine. It's easy to shoot and loads of fun - but my fun meter pegged out at $150. Still, a man could shoot skeet with that thing.

The anti-freedom zealots and the commies absolutely go nuts when they talk about full auto weapons. I've tried explaining that if modern machine guns were as available as, say, a Remington 1100, they'd be self-regulating. Sure, I'd buy one. I'd even shoot it every once in a while, but who can afford the ammo costs?

A full-auto AK47 chews up ammo faster than anyone can make it. Fun, sure, but I can't afford it.

  5. I keep three reloaders going here. I use the Dillon for the steel challenge calibers (and for .41 and .44 mag). I use a Pro 2000 (also progressive but more capable of precision than the Dillon) for rifle practice rounds and a single stage for the ultra heavy .41 and .44 mag loads and the .458 Win Mag that I both load down for fun and load heavy for the serious stuff.
