Both are constructs of the white male patriarchy. Knowing which way to go is wrongthink as an apparatchik will instruct on which way to proceed. Forward!
I’ve always heard the Silva’s are the best, but then I saw one of those retro Boy Scout compasses that Cederq mentioned…and damn… you can shoot a mighty fine bearing with those …
I am ashamed to admit that I hardly know how to use them. Oh, triangulating my current position with landmarks - I can do that. But route finding to a known point - be sheer dumb luck I would be able to find it.
No excuse, I have a Canmegga (sp?) and the other make of U.S. mil-surp units. Just too lazy to learn how to do it. Stupid me.

I have my old Boy Scout Prismatic compass and know how to use it GPS? for pussies and retards that can't fart right.
ReplyDeleteThat Is a piece of art. Combining a Silva bezel with a pocket watch. I would be extremely proud to own.
ReplyDeleteWha...? The COMPASS? Hell, I thought you were talking about the key!
ReplyDeleteI have a mil-surp lensatic compass. Gimme that and a topo map and I am good to go. No batteries required.

"Beware the moon lads, and stick to the roads. Stay off the moors." Follow that advice and you won't need the compass.
