Where Great Intelligence Goes To Be Insulted

I’m still trying to wrap my head around this thing. What is it for? What’s its mission? If I understand it so far… it isn’t particularly well armoured. It has one gun that sounds like a popcorn fart compared to the massive guns borne by its proud ancestors. I think it has one helicopter… and it isn’t all that stealthy.

The war nerds I hear are all saying that the age of the navy is over. Al the ships are now, is great big fat floating targets for missiles. An aircraft carrier is an open invitation to sink it! Mind you… the nerds and fanboys said that about tanks too… and look at the Kraine: the Javelin missile failed gloriously at taking Russian heavy metal off the field. Not to say the javelins don’t work - far from it, those things are bad news to the tank crews… but they are not the giant killers the fanboys said they were.

I look at boats like this, and I think I have lived far past my expiration date…

It is a wonderful thing that young people are so smart. They will have to live in this world they are creating.

    1. Well said, Joe. Thankfully for both myself and the younger generation - I will not be around to see it... :)

  2. it was fun for a while. At the very least I will always be grateful I lived in the 80's right before it all started falling apart.

  3. That ship is a testament to Congressional pork. All 59 states contributed something to that floating pyramid. It isn't about it's stated mission, it's about buying votes by returning a few dollars of tax money to the constituents with gov contracts. When I look through that lens, it all makes sense.

ERJ hits another homer. That is a classy line.

  4. It was supposed to be a next-gen gun/missile cruiser. But the gun, a special 155mm smoothbore with auto-loading and other bullscat, cost too much to shoot. So now they're being modified into all-missile
    platforms.

    But, yes, too much pork.

  5. Most of the Russian Navy, from the Nuclear Battleship "Peter the Great" to the swarming numbers of Frigates, are Missile Carriers First, and are being used to launch the hundreds of Cruise Missiles that are Grinding Down the Kosher Ukronazis. Yes, Surface Ships are more Vulnerable in the Age of the Missile, but Floating Turds like the latest "Destroyers" of the FUUSN are Not carrying the numbers of Missiles that would make them Effective Combatants.

The Aircraft Carrier is only 'Useful' as a Weapons Platform against 3rd-World Nations that don't have Coastal Defense Missiles, and now that the Bear is exporting their "Bastion" System, a Heavy, Truck-Mounted, Supersonic Anti-Ship Missile with Independent Targeting and Guidance, pretty soon the FUSSA is no longer going to be able to Threaten even small Nations with Aerial Attack from the Sea. Never Mind that China has equipped Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles with Onboard Targeting Systems that let them be "Fire and Forget Weapons" against Carrier Battle Groups.

Weapons are obselete. Destroy the web and you're done. But, blowing people up is really fun and we get to use up our outdated stockpiles!!
