I wish I had learned to inlet gun metal into wood when I had steady hands and decent eyesight. When done properly it's what makes the gun makers product into art.
To me, it made more sense for the smaller barrel (.270 Winchester ?) to be placed under the pair of shotgun (20 gauge ?) barrels. It looks unbalanced the way it is shown and raises the scope above stock even more. It appears to be a well manufactured firearm and likely costs as much as half an average American home.
I bet that sucker weighs a ton.
