A SMLE was one of my maternal Grandfather's trio of guns they owned. That SMLE, a single shot 12 gauge (no idea who made it) and a Mossberg 142 rimfire bolt (full stock that resembled the SMLE - just realized that !) were what help feed a family of 12 during the Great Depression.
.303 is rather rare down here in the states and when found, priced dearly. I would far prefer the comparable .308 Winchester chambering.
reach out and touch with a .303
ReplyDeleteThe back of that mag looks mighty square. I'm guessing a last model .308.

Holy crap! You might be right Johnny! Who makes those? You can still buy those if I recall correctly… but they are very pricey…

I have an Enfield that I think was made/used in India; somewhere along the line it was rechambered for 30-06.
ReplyDelete.303 took care of a lot of Englishmen over a lot of years.
